How much residual charge does my on-board battery actually still have? Is the battery really full? Why is energy being drawn from the battery despite consumers being switched off? The VOTRONIC LCD Battery Computer S answers these questions to the exact percent (%) and ampere-hour (Ah). At the push of a button, it provides comprehensive information about the current state of charge of the battery, the flowing battery currents and the voltage level of the battery. Based on the extremely proven VOTRONIC LCD Battery Computer, the LCD Battery Computer S has been developed. The versatile, easy-to-use display functions have been extended by a white illuminated, clear LCD display, which is very easy to read even from a great distance and in unfavorable lighting conditions.

The device is constantly in contact with "his battery" and thus registers and evaluates all battery actions. All charging and discharging currents are meticulously counted, battery size, self-discharge, battery load, etc. are taken into account using programmed characteristic curve fields. The residual capacity of the battery is then calculated from the measured values and the battery size. The result is the correct display of the state of charge (the capacity that can still be removed, residual charge) of the on-board battery as a numerical value in ampere-hours ("Ah") and as a percentage ("%"), as well as a clear level bar, like a fuel gauge. The LCD battery computer S is suitable for all battery types (acid, gel, AGM, lithium adjustable) with 12V and 24V battery voltage.

Of course, the current battery voltage ("V") and the current battery current ("A") are also available in the display. Discharge currents (consumers) are indicated by a minus sign. Charging currents are also indicated by a clearly legible "Charge" sign. Independently of this, there is a further display option for the voltage of a second battery, e.g. for monitoring the starter battery of the vehicle.

The LCD battery computer S has a freely programmable switching output for control, monitoring and warning purposes, e.g. to automatically switch consumers or issue a warning depending on the charge state of the on-board battery (0-100%). On and off switching points are freely and independently adjustable in %, enabling any switching functions. In addition, these can be manually overridden at any time by pressing a button.

Application example: automatic protection of the battery against harmful deep discharge, the consumers are switched off exactly according to the state of charge, e.g. at less than 25% state of charge. At the push of a button, an EMERGENCY ON function is possible for further supply of the consumers. The device can thus also be used as a remote battery main switch (on/off) with deep discharge protection.

A plug-in connection cable connects the display completely to a robust precision measuring resistor (smart shunt), which is connected directly to the negative terminal of the on-board battery and at which the voltages and currents of the battery are recorded. Here is also the switching output for connecting signal generators or powerful switching relays.


Microprocessor-controlled, the following values are measured, calculated and displayed:

  • Battery voltage on-board battery 7 to 32 V (volts). Internal measurement resolution 0.1 V
  • Allows conclusions to be drawn about the battery behavior under different loads and is used for functional control, e.g. the charger, solar system, alternator, etc. flashing warning indicator in the event of overvoltage.
